Although this should probably be a journal entry, I am putting it on our profile, as most people don't read the journals anyways. After looking through, AND READING, hundreds of profiles, it has occured to me that there must be many self proclaimed Doms/Dommes, that don't fully grasp what this is about. I made this observation after reading so many subs/slaves profiles that make reference to rude or insulting messages from Doms/ Dommes for a variety of reasons, to include no responses.
A Dom/Domme is not just Master, but a master. And as such, should take pleasure in molding the sub/slave and pushing them towards self-awareness. As a sub/slave gains pleasure in service, a Dom/Domme should gain pleasure in his craftsmanship. I believe in order to do this, He or She must be able to adapt his training methods to best serve His/Her purpose. While some subs/slaves desire total humiliation, degradation, and abuse, this is not the case with all subs/slaves. A good Dom/Domme must be wise enough to know when to dangle the carrot and when to use the stick.
A Dom/Domme is as much mentor, as He/She is owner. And with that comes great responsibility. In my humble opinion, a Dom/Domme gains more respect from His/Her subs/slaves through STRENGTH, rather than through disrespect and abuse. The strength that I am referring to is not just physical, its a kind of poise or swagger that a confident Dom/Domme exhibits. It is this strength that most subs/slaves desire, although there are some who need a more physical approach.
