TO: My Sisters. Here are my makeup tips for all of you that have asked for advice.
On the brush kit we bought (multiple brushes) she’s holding up the two biggest ones; the one that is the biggest is for FOUNDATION. The 2nd biggest is for BLUSH. In the same kit, there’s a plastic thing. When doing eyebrows, and you have the brows done, get the plastic thing and go from inside to outside and that blends everything. Makes you look natural.
Preparation
I use “Wunderbrow” to do my Eye Brows first. Great product ! Be careful not to smudge makeup into it once it’s applied to your face. You can purchase the remover with it and it’s great OR simply use Neutrogena Makeup Remover.
Then I apply concealer to my chin where it’s hard to disguise my manly shadow there. I use “Dermablend Cover Crème” high color cover. I also use it below my eyes where I tend to have bags. It’s expensive at $41.00 at the Ulta store but the product lasts a long time. Another option is to use “Ulta Full Coverage Concealer”. It’s cheaper and does a good job. In either case, give it an hour to dry before going over it with your regular makeup. I use Cover Girl products as noted herein.
The Face
1st step. She put the medium on. Cover Girl # 425. Used the little sponge thing that came with it. Always work from top to down. Stroke downward. One side first then the other. When working the eyes, look up. Did the forehead, the nose; the whole face. Did the eyebrows working across. If you get it on your lips, no problem; helps lipstick to stay put. Did the chin to the bottom of the neck. Around the hairline, ears.
2nd step. We went to DARK. Cover Girl # 455 Went around the temple (hairline down to the ear). Did the sides of the nose to create a shadow and make the nose look narrower. Do the sides of the nose but not the crown of the nose going down the middle. Don’t do that! A finger-width….don’t do that! Can do the bottom though.
Moving side to side, make a kissing motion, she did from the pucker to the ear; connecting the temple to the cheek. From the corner of the mouth to the ear. Then from the ear, she went down below the jaw line, to the chin. Don’t do the center of the chin! But it’s OK to go under the chin. Don’t have to go too far under the chin; just enough to create a shadow. What you’re doing is giving yourself some cheek bones. Makes the face look smaller and more feminine.
3rd step. Going to the LIGHT. Cover Girl # 405. Forehead went side to side. Down the middle of the nose as well as the tip of the nose. Look up to the ceiling and she did from the bottom of the eye to the cheekbone. Around the mouth and down the center to my chin. For the Cover Girl, if you can’t find the exact numbers, use #’s that are close to what I recommend such as #’s 420, 450, and 410.
4th Step. The Powder!! FOUNDATION. Always go from top down; strokes. This sets the makeup. Getting out that big brush previously described. Open the powder the close the powder; shaking it out of the little holes. Swirl the brush around and dabbing it on. Forehead and a circular motion. To the temples and the left side; always in a circular motion. The cap does not screw. Just fits on.
5th Step. The Blush. Has three colors in it. Says refined rose on the back. Getting out the 2nd brush and will do the blush with it. Colors are raspberry, cream, and nude. Brush in the raspberry. Pucker up for this. In a circular motion, she did the cheek bone. Back of the package it tells you what to do. Covergirl eye brightening shadow pallet plus brush is the name of the product.
THE EYES!
1st she’s going to do the liner (eye-liner) It goes on the inside of the eye; on the top of the skin next to the eye! You can’t get closer to the eyeball! She just did the pencil but you can do the liquid eyeliner as well. Working from the inside out, you do the dark stuff and then later do the white stuff on the inside out up to maybe 30% of the eye. (Or you can do the black all the way). When doing the bottom of the eye, open your mouth like it’s a big yawn….Shyla says your mouth is like a big trout. Doing the top, you almost close your eyes. Next the white thing, doing the inside corner of the top and bottom of each eye. Looking up,

I received a tip from John at Glamour Boutique. It was, take some BROWN eye shadow and apply it to the lower part with the tip of a Q-Tip. Do the top with BLACK eye shadow, again using a Q-Tip. This is by far the easiest and most effective way to do eye-liner. If doing fake lashes, apply the lashes first, then contact lenses if you wear them THEN the brown eye shadow for eyeliner.
Now we’re doing Eye Shadow. Doing the white one, she put it on top of the eye liner. She feathered it from the inside of the eye and UP, then it goes underneath your eyebrow and across the brow. It was all “vanilla”…now she’s going Green; blowing some of the extra off…one little line goes from the crease of your eye not from the eye brow. Now she’s going blue…..Shyla says to just read the back of the box! Brushing up from the eye lash.
*Actually, what I now do is: buy a pallet of eye shadow. Simply read the back where there is a chart. Follow the chart. It’s easy. OR Savannah, a whore in Orlando showed me a marvelous product. It’s a product where there are 3 colors in a Pallet with an applicator. Take the applicator and simply sweep the lids. All the colors will go on at the same time. Takes like a minute. Rhonda uses this a lot.
James DeSpain the owner of Club Babylon used Covergirl Exact Eyelights Kit 700 or 710 with white, pink , silver and black kind of a Charcoal. Silver went from the ball to just below the eyebrow, leaving about ¼ inch to the eyebrow working south to north. Then he took charcoal and went from the corner to the edge of the eyeball, working east to west just enough to color it in. Then the white, the lightest one and doing under the eyebrow……from the top of the silver to the brow…..1/4 inch. Then use the Q-tip method to do the eyeliner…I forgot it and he used liquid eyeliner.
The EYE BROW! The thing has an eraser on the back of it too. Taking the white thing, she’s blending it in. As noted, I use Wunderbrow….
HOLD ON! In 2014 I got a tip from Lucille Sorella about a video on you tube entitled: “Smokey Eyes Part 1” and now do the smoky eyes! In a nutshell:
Do the brows first and extend them past where the brow naturally ends…..about a half inch or so. It’s best for you to look at the You Tube Video. Use the slanted brush in your brush set to blend it in.
Eye liner using eye shadow with a Q Tip….brown on bottom and black on top then using the slanty brush again, blend it in so it’s not too loud. Is ok to get into the lashes. It’s called Jammin’.
Then take brown eye shadow and using the 3rd biggest brush in your set, do the ball of the eye. Dab it on over and over and go from corner to corner.
(NOTE: Since you’ll be using the same brush for different colors, I take a roll of toilet paper and when finished with the brown, I clean the brush by sweeping it over the paper back and forth repeatedly. NEVER use water to clean them…)
Then just above that, use some black eye shadow and go to up towards the eyebrow but not all the way to the eyebrow. Then using that 3rd biggest brush, blend the two (brown and black) together to have it blend nicely. In other words, you don’t want the brown and then the black….you want it blended in. This all happens on the ball of the eye!
Then just above the black, and the ball of the eye, use a neutral color like a light brown. Then to finish off, use a sparkly eye shadow from there to the eyebrow.
Finishing off, go back to where you did the eye shadow above and below the eye and add more black to the top because the brown probably covered up the original. Work it in. Then you should have the smoky eye effect!
So, to clear this up: Use either Covergirl Exact Eyelights, or do the smoky eye effect, or you can buy eye liner, and different shades separately for a more professional look.
We forgot the Mascara! She did it. After dipping it, she wiped the applier on a paper towel. Getting rid of all the extra. Go from down to up and also from side to side; giving it more volume. When wearing fake eyelashes (301’s), they’re Drag Queen style, you don’t need to do the mascara.
Shyla did me and I looked fantastic!
False Eyelashes: I love what is known in the industry as 301’s. Drag Queens use them. Vivian Love stopped by to teach me how to apply them. Put some glue NOT on the underside but on the edge where they will touch your skin, not to your real eye lashes but just above your real lashes. Do the glue on the lash strip and wave the false one around for 15 seconds and apply to the skin just after where your real ones go. Start in the center and work your way to the edges using little “taps”. Center then to the outside, and back to center then to the inside. The lashes will be curling “up”. The longer side goes toward my ear; the shorter side goes toward my nose. When you run out of the glue, go to a wig store and get “Bonding Glue”. Use this glue only for your eye lashes. It’s a rubber based glue, $1.99 and lasts forever before you have to buy more.
THE LIPS: I find it’s best to use a permanent one. It is applied with a little wand that is supplied. Apply the lipstick and wait FIVE minutes; minimum. TEN is better. Then apply the topcoat. Comes with it and is clear. You can use during the evening .
FOR BIG LIPS: trace just above your top lip, around to the edges, close to the lip, then trace just below your bottom lip. You don’t want to venture too far away from your natural lip or you’ll look like Bozo the Clown. When this is finished, then apply the lipstick as explained above.
THE NAILS Not much to say here.
It isn't a must that you do all the foundation in a downward motion. Mainly just the middle color since it's the one you cover your entire face with. Using “Kits” for eye shadow: The white or highlight color goes just under your brow line, but again it isn't a must. Like we had discussed while you were here you can just follow the back of the box which has you covering your lid up to your brow and just covering it with the darker colors. The green I did just do the crease of your brow bone, but again it is not set in stone. Makeup can be applied a million different ways, you just need to find a style and way of doing it that looks good on you, that you like, and is easiest for you to do.
Products I use:
BRUSHES: first of all, go to WalMart and buy a set of brushes. They’re expensive but are vital to getting made up successfully. The name of mine rubbed off but there are nine brushes in it ranging in all various sizes. There are instructions in it.
If you need to, email me at cd_luvs_cds2@yahoo.com I do have a file with pictures of the three that I use and the pictures show the contrast between them.
The Face
________
Powdered Make Up base:
Covergirl 425 Buff Beige. This is medium and is applied first.
Covergirl 450 Creamy Beige. This is dark and is applied second.
Covergirl 405 Ivory. This is light and is applied third; just before the powder.
Powder; to set the makeup.
Covergirl trublend minerals 415 is translucent medium; a loose mineral powder. This sets the makeup applied above. Apply with the biggest brush in your set.
Covergirl 230 instant cheekbones contouring blush. Apply with the 2nd biggest brush in your set.
Eye Liner: Maybelline Ultra Liner; a liquid eye liner. Easier than a pencil.
Eye Shadow: Covergirl 710; Exact Eyelights; eye brightening shadow palette. Comes with a nice brush; use that or the third biggest in your set. OR you can use any “kit” you want. But as stated earlier, John from Glamour Boutique told me to use Brown eye shadow for bottom and black eye shadow for top using a Q-Tip to apply. This is the easier way to accomplish nice eyes! Rhonda now does this all the time!
Eyebrow pencil: I use a brown that comes with an eraser at the end for blending. The name of the product rubbed off! It’s Cover Girl #215!!!!!!!!
Mascara: Maybelline; the falsies Volum Express. Has an H603 at the end of it.
Sandra told me about another liquid eyeliner and I got it and it’s a breeze to apply. To do the upper lid, pull back the skin from the eyebrow up…much easier. Cover Girl? Have some in my makeup bag in storage. Get the name of it and enter it here.
Outlast; Timeless Ruby #528 Permanent Lipstick. Don’t worry, it comes off with a little petroleum jelly or even easier, makeup wipes from Walgreens. (get two from Walgreens and when you run out of one; replace it immediately. No girl wants to be caught without this valuable product!) #528 is hard to find so I use #521.
Tracer Pencil (for the Big Lips) Maybelline 40 Raisin. Go out and get a small easy to carry pencil sharpener for this product.
THE NAILS

I use Sally Hanson Diamond Strength No Chip Nail Color: #380: Honeymoon Red. A great color. Use pinks every so often but I keep coming back to this one.
One final note: get a makeup case to carry all this stuff in.
