4/4/2024 7:33:34 AM: Love Noises during Love Making   So, another aspect of lovemaking that the Kama Sutra talks about is the love noises these love noises were called Siddh Kriti. Siddh is when you breathe in sharply through your teeth like (eiss). Siddh Kriti was a combination of sounds arising from the breath or the gasp. Now the rules of Siddh Kriti were love noises were only to be made by women never by the men they were only to be made towards the end of the lovemaking as you approached orgasm. And they had to be made in a certain order you see the lovemaking was the ultimate art which meant that at no point was anything ever to be rushed and at all times you have to be completely aware of what you are feeling. So, you could save each sensation but as one approached orgasm the breath would start coming quicker you would become inarticulate your words would become garbled in other words you were no longer in control of either your breath or your mind and this is where the love noises came in. Now as I mentioned the noises would just for the women the man job was simply to hold off on his orgasm, he had to use all of his energy to make sure that he did not ejaculate it was the woman's job to make the noises that would maintain the passion and yet paradoxically keep things at an unrushed pace and so what were these magical sounds they were the mating calls of certain birds. And as I said they have to be made in a certain order so you have to start with making the sound of quail, then you went on to the sound of an Indian cuckoo, then you moved on to the spotted neck pigeon, the goose and finally the peacock. And if you couldn’t remember the order of the bird noises it was okay to make a humming sound like an insect does when it is buzzing over the flowers because you have to make sure that you raised and dropped the pitch of that sound you couldn't be monotonous. The Kamasutra says that if the woman could bring herself to make these sounds when she was at orgasm, she could gain control over her and her lovers ecstasies and channel her love energies towards far greater pleasure.

4/3/2024 10:46:26 AM: Kamasutra in most simple way? Kamasutra is about pleasure not about sex. Okay? Sex is a very physical act that anybody can indulge in the act of sex. Pleasure is something that only the human mind can actually understand and indulge in. Pleasure is a much longer lasting thing and it’s actually extremely good for you and it is something that actually takes you to a whole different height it’s supposed to elevate you it’s supposed to make you reach certain heights that you can’t otherwise reach. Height means in terms  of human experience I mean, in terms of elevating the minds so this is what it was written for vatsyayana who is the author of Kamasutra, actually says this in his introduction he says that, how elegant, beautiful and refined this whole world is it is nothing like we think of the act of sex today and it talks about this refinement and this beauty in such a way because, in ancient times they believed that everything had to start from the point of physical intimacy. Every time a king came to the throne, they would have version of the Kamasutra commissioned for their kingdom so there’s not just one Kamasutra there are thousands of them and each time they had it commissioned they believed that if a couple could share really really good mutually pleasurable intimacy that means the relationship would be stable. If the relationship was stable, society would be stable if the society was stable, the kingdom would be stable. So, this was about the bigger picture it was about they literally believed back in that time that, success in any part of your life whether you are a warrior  whether you are an economist whether you are a trader whatever it is that you did succuss in any part of your life depended on your success in your physical intimate life and if the aim is to reach god all love to first begin at the physical level before you can start to elevate it. And hence, it not about sex because the act of sex is on its own it doesn’t mean very much it was about pleasure it was about arousal, it was about desire because, of course in ancient times again we believe that the highest form of energy is the sexual energy. They believed that when you have arousal when you are in a state of pleasure and elevating pleasure, there is more metabolism in your body than even when you exercise because every part of your body goes into some form of activity your heart rate your breathing your hormones are being secreted, everything and eventually, if you consider this is where if you carried this pleasure to it’s final point, this is how you can create life so this you know this was considered the highest form of energy because, it’s that powerful. Kamasutra written almost in scientific manner and science in those days, To the normal reader who doesn’t know what the other metaphors mean the only thing that makes sense is the little tiny chapter on positions. Because, you understand what a position means and that’s why we’ve come to understand that the Kamasutra is just about positions.

There was a very exclusive job known as the bedroom Watcher, this was a hereditary position it could only be passed down from father to son and the job was to sit next to the bed while a couple made love and to make a note of every movement, every sound, every facial expression that the couple made during the act of sex and it was based on this research that the ancient erotic manuals were written. Then there was also the effective of music on the sexual act it was believed that an assortment of notes and melodies would affect the play of passion in different ways so an orchestra of five musicians would sit at the head of the bed behind the net curtains and experiment with a range of ragas (melodic Patterns) and harmonies of tempos and pitches in order to control the mood of the lovers, and see what would happen when they changed the melodies and couples were encouraged to stare at themselves in the mirror while making love so that they could study their expressions at different stages of the sexual experience because this way they could see how they were feeling at each stage and how they were reacting to each other and the progress of passion and what may be needed changing so these were some of the ways in which the material for the sex manuals was collected.
