A message to those users who demand a lengthy or interesting or intriguing first message.
I am of the opinion that the way these sites are supposed to work is that each user should be thorough in completing their profile. Then when a user finds someone they think maybe compatible, they should be able to just send the briefest expression of interest to find out if the if the other user is alive and responsive and if the interest is mutual or not and if it is, then the loquacious communication can begin. Does that make sense? Its not just me. Most of the men that I speak to are of the same opinion. We are sick and tired of wasting our time. We feel like we are talking to a wall most of the time. In a room with crickets. The level of utter non-response is amazing. Until I've received a message back stating mutual interest, I simply refuse to invest the time and creative energy to compose a message that will generate "intrigue", because the historical returns on those investments have been zero, a total waste. One website I no longer use actually allowed users to set a minimum number of characters for incoming messages or the message would be rejected. Yikes, from my point of view.
So from my point of view a brief message like "hey let's chat sometime" or "Wow you're interesting" is not only acceptable, its preferred, because if I don't like you ,then I don't want you to have wasted your precious time writing me a long message.
